2 Timothy 3:1 - "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come."
Just this past weekend a little girl went missing from our small town of Stella, Missouri. Because of the situation, most people around here fear she has met with a horrible death. She was abducted from her bed Friday night while she slept. Her mother works nights and was at work on Friday night. Her step-dad was babysitting her and he said she went to bed around nine O'clock. It was late Saturday morning before she was discovered missing.
Her name is Rowan Ford and she is only 9 years old. She has been missing from her Stella home since Friday night (Nov. 2nd, 2007) Stella has a population of only a 187 people with very few businesses: an elementary school, a gas station, a post office, a telephone office but there is no grocery store. We never imagined something like this could possibly happen in such a small town!
Every day we read about more and more child abuse, rapes and murders of children. God in heaven must be so angry because He loves our children so much. Jesus said this about someone who would mistreat a little child in Luke 17:2 - "It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones."
2 Peter 3:3 - "Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,..."
I do believe the United States has reached the point of no return. What was once a free and godly nation is now a nation under God's judgment because of all the abortions, ungodly sexual sins, selfish and self-centered divorces, lack of respect for the elderly, malicious gossips, lovers of sin rather than lovers of godliness, lack of honor for parents, lack of concern for the widow and orphans, lack of self-control in all things and little honor anywhere!
Jude 1:7 - "Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire."
It is time for Christians to "blow the trumpet." because more destruction is coming, not just deteriorating social conditions or loss of freedoms but clear and horrible judgments from God. "If the trumpet does not sound a clear call, who will get ready for battle?" (1 Corinthians 14:8). As Christians we must sound the call to repentance because "judgment must begin at the house of God" (1 Peter 4:17). God's message to His people today is to walk with Him in humble obedience and to come out of the world's value system. We need to get ready to meet Jesus, and tell as many others as possible about God's grace and salvation.
2 Peter 3:9 - 11 "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,... "
Let us humble ourselves and pray for our leaders asking God for forgiveness. We need to live with urgency and seek God's will and turn from our sinful ways! Brothers and sisters in Christ... He is our only hope in these perilous days.
2 Chronicles 7:14 - "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
